Shatta Wale holds Queen’s Baton relay
Dancehall act, Shatta Wale, on Saturday joined hundreds of Ghanaians to welcome the Queen’s Baton Relay, which is on tour of some Commonwealth countries, ahead of the games in August this year.
Grateful for the opportunity given him, he took to social media to thank those who
made it happen.
“It happens once in a life time..I will like to thank the president of Ghana and the nation for granting me the opportunity to be part of the change in the queens Baton..God bless my homeland Ghana.#SM4LYF.”
The Queen’s Baton Relay is a unique tour of the Commonwealth and has taken place every year since the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.

The tradition is for the Head of the Commonwealth, currently Queen Elizabeth ll, to write a message that is carried within a baton until it is finally read aloud to officially open the 2014 Games in Glasgow, UK.
For the next nine months the baton will travel around the globe to the 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth.
The Queen officially set the baton at Buckingham Palace on October 9 last year.
The route includes some of the larger Commonwealth countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, South Africa, Malaysia, Australia, Kenya, Jamaica and Canada.
